Wittnauer was an American watch company founded by a Swiss immigrant in New York in 1880 and specialised very early in scientific instruments in the field of aviation and navigation, also making line compasses for American soldiers in WWII. In 1950 Wittnauer has been purchased by Longines and became integral part of the company. The firm was specialised on pieces for the American market until its sale to Bulova (Citizen Watch Co.) in 2001.

The Wittnauer company also operated as agent for Longines in the USA. Because of the tight connection (and the use of Longines movements) Wittnauer watches are listed together with Longines pieces.
