Additional Info: Normally we are used to Rolex perpetual watches of that era being mounted in ‘oyster’ cases. During war time and up to the 1950s, in many countries, the import of precious metal was regulated with enormous import taxes. Consequently Rolex watches exported from Switzerland to France for example were sent as movements only and cased locally.

In some instances one can find foreign (not Swiss) Rolex markings and sometimes, as here, the case is completely anonymous and of ‘not’ Rolex style. In terms of total production numbers such Rolex watches are extremely rare.
